Living The Moment

Outward Bound helps a helluva lot…

I just got back from a 3 days Outward Bound Training held deep in the Tropical Rainforest of Brunei Darussalam. It was in Temburong District and a total of 20 personnel went for this trip which was later divided into 2 groups of ten. It tought us alot in terms of self confidence, confidence towards your team mates, trust, self belief and teamwork.

I remembered i told myself that i’m just gonna push myself to the limit to find out what the obstacles are. I heard a lot of different stories about Outward Bound courses and non of them were earth shattering. Almost all of the people that went through this course found it hard to take and some of them even experienced grueling experiences (not to mention near death experiences as well). But i told myself and my other teammates that i’m gonna take whatever that lies ahead of me one step at a time and go through them. Kinda like extreme sports or the Amazing Race…but in a harsher condition and challenges.

Good thing about my course is that we dont have to do any solo nights which usually are the real test. Instead we had to trek the jungle for 5 hours with 10 kilos on our backpack to find the camping site. And after that we have to build our own tent, cook our own food, kayak our way back to the logistic centre. it was tough and tiring but it was fun…i highly recommend people to go through the experience…its all worth it in the end cos…it made me realize how tough it is to live back to basics and living outside our comfort zone…
